Frequently Asked Questions
DO I NEED BBQ EXPERIENCE TO COOK WITH A TEAM AS A VETERAN?

Absolutely not! Pro BBQ teams often have friends and judges cook with them to gain experience and are quite comfortable having newcomers in their cooksite. Teams will not ask you to do anything that you’re uncomfortable with, or may risk their chances of winning. Teams have lots of tasks you can assist with to learn and have a great time doing so! Plus you’ll get to sample amazing BBQ along the way!

AS A VET, WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO A BBQ CONTEST?

Most importantly, you! You’ll want to dress for the weather. Seeing as BBQ events are outdoors, check the weather, and dress accordingly. We recommend packing a small bag with a change of clothes, and some basic toiletries. You may bring snacks, drinks, and other items if you wish. We’ll put you in contact with your team with plenty of time to work out the details before your mission launches.

WHAT DOES MY MISSION PLAN AND SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE?

Most of our events are KCBS Master Series events. Teams compete in Chicken, Ribs, Pork, and Brisket. Most teams load in on Friday morning and leave Saturday night. Friday afternoon and evenings are a good time to be involved in contest preparations, and socializing events (cooks meeting, potlucks, and campfires) The competition really gets going around 5am Saturday morning. Teams turn in Chicken at 1200, Ribs at 1230, Pork at 1300, and Brisket at 1330. Most awards ceremonies are between 1600-1800 hours.

WHAT IF I HAVE AN ISSUE AT A CONTEST?

Mission Zero Hundred Hours has designated emergency points of contact on call for the entirety of your mission designated MZHH Safety Officers. If you’re unable to get help from your sponsored BBQ team, or the contests reps, we’re just a phone call away

HOW DO I HOST A VET ON MY BBQ TEAM?

Please fill out the form, and we’ll contact you. Currently we’re only accepting teams in the midwest area, but we’re expanding quickly and will have opportunity in other areas soon.

DOES IT COST ME ANYTHING TO HOST A VET WITH MY BBQ TEAM?

No Way! Have fun, share some stories, get them involved with your cook at any level you’re comfortable with, and most importantly have fun!

WHAT IF I RUN INTO ISSUES WITH MY VET?

We certainly hope this doesn’t happen, but if it does please contact your designated MZHH Safety Officer immediately. This emergency contact information is listed in your Mission Pack.
