Honor-Q – Yorkville American Legion Post 489

BBQ TEAM EVENT INFORMATION:

Honor-Q is a KCBS Master Series Contest Located at the Yorkville American Legion, Post 489, and a fundraiser for Mission Zero Hundred Hours a 501(c)3 charity. Please join us in honoring the 20 year anniversary of 9/11. 

OPTIONAL ANCILLARY: (Anything Goes – Red, White & Blue) is required for teams competing in the Saluting With Smoke Series.

POWER: The price of power this year is VERY expensive. In an effort to keep registration costs lower, we will not be providing power. Generators are permitted. 

WATER: We have a central spigot available and you can fill up your fresh water tanks on the way into the event, prior to parking in your spot. 

SATURDAY NIGHT: Teams are welcome to stay Saturday night. The Legion bar will be open, and it’s always a good time. Please select that you are staying overnight Saturday, as this determines your cooking site placement. If you do not let us know you’re staying Saturday night and decide to, you may have to pack and move your cooksite. 

PRIZES & PAYOUTS MASTER SERIES 4 MEATS: The current prize purse is $5,000. This may increase based on team count. We plan on paying through 10th place regardless of team count. Trophies will be awarded 1-10 regardless of team count. w9‘s will be required for all prize payouts. 

ANCILLARY PRIZES & PAYOUTS: The current prize purse is $450. This may increase based on team count. We plan on paying through 5th place regardless of team count. Trophies will be awarded 1-3 regardless of team count. w9‘s will be required for all prize payouts. 

EVENT DETAILS: Friday night we are having a potluck, DJ, and a bonfire. MZHH is providing all the proteins. If you’d like to participate please provide a side dish or dessert. Saturday will include 9/11 memorial services, food trucks, beer tents, and drink specials all day. FREE BREAKFAST FOR ALL TEAMS AND FIRST RESPONDERS AND VETERANS

RESTRICTIONS:  Please no alcohol on premises as carrying it around in a red solo cup or any type of container. The Legion is  licensed the same as a bar and our other festival goers have to abide by our rules too. So, you can use your own alcohol, but it MUST stay in your cook site ONLY. The Legion will have drink specials all weekend. PLEASE support the American Legion and purchase alcohol from them. We’ll have outdoor beer tents, and golf carts to bring you beer buckets, bloody marys, apple pie shots, and all sorts of other drinks. 

VETERANS & FIRST RESPONDERS: If you would like to cook with a team, please register below. No experience is required and you’ll have a great time hanging out with the BBQ family over the weeknd.

7:46am- 3 bell rings – Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower.
8:03am. – 3 bell rings – Flight 175 crashed into the South Tower.
8:37am – 3 bell rings – American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon.
8:59am – 3 bell rings – The South Tower collapses
9:03am – 3 bell rings – United Airlines Flight 93 crashed near Shanksville
9:04am – Flag Lowering
9:06am – American Legion Memorial Service
9:11am – Rifle Volley / Taps
9:22am – BBQ Toast
9:28am – 3 bell rings – The North Tower collapses
10am – Food trucks open
10am – Judge check-in
10:30am – Judge meeting
